The Local Foods Local Places team attended the 175th annual Fiesta de Santiago y Santa Ana in San Luis, Colorado on July 23–26, 2026. This event draws in multi-generational families and friends who travel great distances to celebrate their heritage together.

Celebrating 175 Years
The festival includes a parade with horses, dancers, low-riders, floats, and so much more, plus a 10k run, music and mariachi performances, vendors, and plenty of cultural foods produced and prepared right here in the San Luis Valley. The representation of Chicano, New Mexican, and Hispanic culture is a beautiful example of San Luis’s long history.

The Community Table
LFLP tabled at the festival. We offered information on the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) Equipment Tax Credit, the Local Roots Resource Guide, and updated information on the Community Food and Agriculture Action Plan. We also offered tables, chairs, ice, water, and shade from the sun for people to sit and have conversations. The community table concept was introduced following the Action Plan to increase community engagement.
CDA’s Community Food Access program director, Mickey Davis, also attended the event for the first time. She visited the San Luis People’s Market and other Tax Credit awardees. We hope to attend the event again next year!
